Located just a few steps from the ODP Studio and the famous Due Torri, nestled in the medieval streets of Bologna.
A stunning example of Italian Renaissance architectural style, the Palazzo was built to house the private rooms of Cardinal Ugo Boncompagni, later known as Pope Gregory XIII, who resided here until his election to the papal throne in May 1572.
Many of the interior elements were designed and built by the architect Jacopo Barozzi (known as The Vignola).
Among these the famous helical staircase, inspired by the Bramante stairs of The Vatican, which led to the noble abbeys on the first floor of the Palazzo.
Palazzo Boncompagni is open to visitors for private tours and special events, or stay tuned on our Instagram for more from our Spring photoshoot inside this extraordinary setting!
