Born at the beginning of the 20th Century, this timeless style blends versatility, comfort and classic elegance, a favorite of style icons such as Twiggy, Jane Birkin, Sarah-Jessica Parker and Alexa Chung.

The particular etymology came about in the early 1900's with the popular comic strip “Buster Brown” in which the character, named Mary Jane, wore the shoe. Considered for decades a shoe made for little boys, worn to complete school uniforms or church attire, it was only in the 1930s that Mary Jane began to be perceived as a shoe for girls.

For many occasions, stars have worn them in their everyday life making it an extremely popular style throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The shoe especially gained a resurgence of popularity in the 90s, and again today.
